Blink and you will miss it. Burgertory was hidden inconspicuously above Guardian, one row before Maybank. I only noticed it when a large group of college students went up. Naturally we followed suit. There were posters proclaiming that they had the best pork burger in town *stomach rumbles*
On the eve of Malaysia’s most exciting elections ever, me and DH was out on the prowl looking for a good burger when we stumbled upon Burgertory. Typical, always thinking about food when the nation’s future was at stake. But forgive us, for after travelling more than 350km to cast our vote, we had to reward ourselves.
Somehow, we ended up in Subang SS15, where we both went to college some light years ago. In between reminiscing about those amazing days, we had to make a decision. Should we have the trusty Ramly Burger from the countless street hawkers, or one from the fastfood outlets, or go gourmet? It was a no-brainer.
The kitchen and bar
This is where the hardworking fellas create magic
DIY and proud of it!
The scene resembled something out of an episode of Restaurant Takeover. Artfully designed space *clap clap* built from scratch by the owners themselves. Two things caught my eye – the lights, and one of the dining tables.
Loved the lights!
DH noted that this is a work bench, where real work is done :p
A Big-Ass Menu
Confronted by the huge menu – which dominated one wall, we were undecided. One thing screamed “try me! try me!” and it was the Mascarpone Cheese & Curry. DH made it a set and added extra bacon *grinz*
The moment of truth
When it arrived, the first thing that crossed my mind was – noooo, it’s so huge, how will i be able to bite into that?! DH, on the other hand, was so happy he was practically dancing LOL
Mascarpone Cheese & Curry Pork Burger with Extra Bacon
It was good. Correction, it was really good. Pure Pork Heaven. The meat was juicy, it had the right amount of spiciness without being overpowering. DH (who needs everything smothered in chilli sauce) for once, had no need for it. Best of all, I managed to eat it without the entire burger falling apart (thanks to the large wooden skewer they stuck into the burger).
The fry combo
The Fry Combo we ordered contained fries, onion rings and mozzarella cheese sticks (in actual fact it looked like balls to me). Fries were alright but the onion rings were a disappointment. Come on, even A&W used to serve better stuff than this. The mozzarella cheese sticks though, were yummy! Maybe I will just order that next time. The mayo that came with it was at least pretty decent.
The bill came up to RM26.00, so don’t expect Ramly Burger prices here 😀
As a pet-peeve, I feel this place’s name sounds way too similar to purgatory (no, not nice at all), luckily for us, it is just the opposite of that. So, will we come again? Oink Oink! (translation: HELL YES!)
**UPDATE 20 AUGUST 2013
Went to Burgertory again and business was booming! Had a chat with them and found out that they also supply pork so all their meat is guaranteed fresh and used up within 48 hours – which means no frozen meat! No wonder their burgers are awfully juicy and delicious!
